Description

Item Description: An excellent, 100% authentic, textbook example of an early-production Model 1933 SA (Sturmabteilung) Service Dagger. This piece features premium, hand-fitted solid nickel-silver hardware and a scarce manufacturer hallmark, making it a highly desirable example for advanced Third Reich militaria collectors.

Blade & Maker Mark: The high-carbon steel blade remains in very fine collectible condition, retaining crisp, highly visible factory vertical and diagonal polishing lines (cross-graining). The obverse of the blade features the deeply acid-etched SA motto, “Alles für Deutschland” (Everything for Germany), displaying the characteristic frosted gray background and sharp Gothic typography of early Solingen craftsmanship. The reverse ricasso is cleanly struck with the rare, early oval trademark logo of Gebrüder Christians (Christianswerk), Solingen-Nord, featuring a central fork/pitchfork design. There are very slight surface scratches from the dagger being pushed in and out of the sheath.

Hilt & Regional Markings: The hilt components are made of high-quality, solid nickel-silver which has aged to a beautiful, uniform dull gray patina. The lower crossguard is explicitly stamped with the regional SA distribution Group mark “Nrh” (Niederrhein), which historically pairs with this Solingen-based manufacturer. The crossguard also features the tiny, stamped internal factory bench assembly mark “sa” on the metal step directly beneath the wood. The transition between the wood grip and the metal crossguards is flawlessly tight, showing the meticulous hand-filing of early Solingen workshops.

Grip Configuration: The sleek, contoured wood grip is crafted from a rich walnut or fruitwood, showing natural depth to the grain and honest pocket wear from period use. The nickel-silver SA eagle and the brown enamel SA roundel are flawlessly flush-fit into the wood core without the loose gaps or sloppy adhesive residue common in reproductions.

Accessories: This dagger retains its original early-style scabbard fitting configuration and comes complete with an authentic, single-strap leather belt hanger attachment, featuring a matching nickel-silver spring clip marked M5/25 RZM. The leather is very worn, handle carefully or the leather will rip.
