Description
This is the M39 version which switched over to hook straps designed to be attached to Y-straps, which this pack bears. The M39 also featured additional d rings for the A-frame assault pack to attach to which this tornister bears. Pony fur is in decent shape however has a few small bald spots and one serious bald spot in the top right corner. The leather is breaking off along the outer edges, cracking and curling on a few straps so it is slightly dry as shown in the photos. One metal d ring loop has broken off the leather keeper and is missing on the top of the backpack. On the inside there are a few small holes. Leather shoulder straps are in good useable condition complete with all metal hardware meant to be hooked onto the y straps of the belt. This definitely still has life left it and can be used for display or reenactment without worry. I recommend putting some leather conditioner on to make the leather more pliable. Manufacturer marked and dated 1942.
